One of the components of meeting the HERO energy efficient guidelines is using tankless water heaters.  A lot of builders will only install one tankless water heater, but 90% of the time Absolute Construction will install 2 water heaters to assure the water being servicing on both sides of the house.  The times only one is used is when it is a smaller house with the master and kitchen locating in near proximity to each other.

A tankless water heaters uses 30 to 50 percent less energy than units with tanks, resulting in an annual cost savings. Tankless units (also called “on demand” units) heat water only when you turn on the faucet. They usually operate on natural gas or propane. The main advantage is that they eliminate the extra cost of keeping 40 to 50 gallons of water hot in a storage tank, so you waste less energy.
