When choosing a general contractor property owners need to look beyond the contract/building process, but also take into consideration how responsive the contractor and their trade vendors are during the punch list process.
A benefit to using the same vendors, in addition to the accessibility they tend to offer during the 1-year punch list period, is that they tend to work well together and have open communication when building your home. This can minimize any “trade conflict” (such as low voltage interfering with high voltage wiring). All of these factors should be addressed when interviewing builders.
Questions to ask when interviewing builders:
- Will the general contractor be willing to go above and beyond the normal expectations when an out of the ordinary situation arises?
- Do they consistently use the same trade vendors so there is a degree of loyalty and service when punch items or time frame is outside of the norm?
Absolute Construction and Development use trade vendors that look beyond the contract building process and have a high level of integrity. They are willing to go above and beyond when an out of the ordinary situation arises.
Here is a recent accolade from one of our customers in regard to such a situation:
Nelu & Lisa,
“Just a note to thank-you for the outstanding job the men did on our home on Tuesday. The work that was done was superlative, and the home looks like new again! Once again, you have exceeded our expectations with the extent and quality of the work that was done. I thought that my two and one-half page list was too long, but the work that was done far exceeded that list! We appreciate the extension that you gave us under the difficult circumstances of recent time.
Once again, our sincere appreciation for the great support that you have given to us.”
Best Regards,
Carl & Charlotte
